Hi guys, got my ic706 running and playing with PDw. decoding most everything
well.

but googling mobitex freqs ,i come up with 415MHz around abouts.

when i tune a obvious data freq The PDW software displays mobitex on top of
the title bar "Base 8000","network ID",& "Base Id"
but nothing in the receiving window.

Ive got a ic706mk11g with pc control interface . Im playing with input
volumes but cant get mobitex to go.
What are some ipswich/brisbane KNOWN mobitex freqs please so i KNOW the
Freq is right then ill just play with inputs.

Not knowing actual freqs theres too many variables ROFL...

Software is PDW 2.53

any help please???

what does the data sound like you are listening to?
Mobitex is a Chunka Chunka Chunka sound
there are all sorts of data in the 400-420 range on the trunking systems

As for decoding Mobitex
No matter what I did I could never get much more than a few words
decoded via soundcard
Use one of the data slicers(I use a 2 level but 4 level is much better)
that is included in the PDW help files
with the data slicer I got mostly good clean messages

As for frequencies there will be quite a few close to you, the Mobitex
works just like a mobile phone system where the mobile unit is TXing and
keeping connected to the system via the strongest base station, then
when a message is sent to that unit it only goes via the connected base
and not over the whole system of bases

TY Kev,
yea its a chunka sound and the local freq i THINK is 414.537. I cant install
the slicer that came with PDW. Just wont install. Im running Vista

My interface is via the usb port here: http://www.xggcomms.com/page3.htm
scroll down to "icom cable 8".

Would be great to get it going.

cheers Rod

I don't think PDW is written to work with USB for the interface
you need a proper RS232 serial port

you might try assigning the USB connection as COM Port 1
it's a bit of muckming about but do a clean install of all your COM
ports, Open Device Manager and find the COM ports
then disable them all. Connect your USB cable then Re scan for hardware
changes and your USB connector will show up
right click on it and go into "Properties" and assign this port to COM 1

then give the program a try, make sure you tell PDW what COM port your
connector is assigned to

TY Kev,
My other serial port is already in use so i orderred the serial to usb
connector as well. the icom cable 8 has a serial connector but i use it with
the usb connector/adapter. Ive labelled it com port4 and its running well
BUT it wont load the slicer probably cause its a usb port LOL.

Never mind,if the serial port was free itd be easy as.

Im happy even tho i cant get mobitex to display,i get everything else
beautifully.

Cheers Kev and Many Tnx for your kind input..
