Dunno.
I stopped going there when the administrator locked a thread after I
asked him for a reference to law or reg that made watching security
video on unsecured frequencies illegal.
. He had stated, categorically, that it was "hacking" and illegal.
But he said he wasn't going to spend hours trawling for a regulation
that "might or might not exist".
Locked the thread.

From browsing the forum in the past it would appear that there were several
disputes like this - it seemed one administrator (the owner) always had to
be 'right', event when he was wrong.

RIP, I say.

Yeah.
And I wouldn't have regarded my request for more information as
offering dissent. I really wanted to know more.
And he came on as though he knew something I had been missing.

If you do it right......
and resist the temptation to make it an extension of your ego.....

LOL.

Seriously, I enjoyed ScanNSW until the ego monster took control.

Go for it and let us know.

Well the rules would be quite simple and these are just to start with

1) don't do anything illegal online or discuss anything illegal
2) don't abuse/insult the admin
3) If someone says something to you that you don't like dont go whinging to
the admin as unless its an actual threat it'll be ignored
4) if you don't like something someone has said in a public forum take it to
private message, as all slanging wars in public will be dealt with by the
following

1st Offence - Warning Email
2nd Offence - 1 Week Ban
3rd Offence - 1 Month Ban

I think the above are fair, and am open to suggestions

nope thats not mine Michael, i'm coming off night shift this sunday night so
i'll be starting to set it up then.

It'll more than likely be linked to both www.newcastle-scanning.info ( which
is a newcastle & central coast scanning website) that will be back online
shortly and it'll also be linked to www.sydneyscan.com

I hate it when hard drives die in servers when you have everything setup

One simple suggestion: try using them yourself online.
Your posting history here demonstrates clearly that you feel exempt from

Hey Barry, stop being a standards zealot. You are not one to talk when
the site linked in your .sig so horribly fails at the W3C test, and
let's not get into the failure of visual standards.

Spend less time replying to every post you possibly can, whinging
about an out of date standard that only a few stupid monkeys still
uphold, and more time working on the mess you call a home page.

One more thing: Spend a day in a corporate environment, using only
bottom-posting, and see how many people you piss off.

This is the problem - it does take a special type of person to be an
admin or mod AND not let their ego compromise the forum to some degree.
I'm sure I'd eventually fail miserably at such a task, hence never
contemplated anything along those lines.

Not so hard.Takes just a little introspection and honesty.
Been a mod and supermod on a forum with 30,000+ members for years.
Have had a few accusations of megalomania, though ......LOL.

But acquitted each time.

But, I suppose, I can be fired. Different with a large ego owning a
small forum.

A: Because people don't talk that way.

Q: Why is top posting annoying?

Dunno.
I stopped going there when the administrator locked a thread after I
asked him for a reference to law or reg that made watching security
video on unsecured frequencies illegal.
. He had stated, categorically, that it was "hacking" and illegal.
But he said he wasn't going to spend hours trawling for a regulation

Locked the thread.
From browsing the forum in the past it would appear that there were
