Hi all,

now that the MFB & Ambos have gone digital, are they receivable
using a digital scanner or have they got encryption as well?

Also if receivable, what would the freqs. be?

kind regards

Adam

Hi Adam

No doubt you'll get a reply to your first question soon. I do not know
myself.

But I can answer your seond question with an opinion. In my opinion the
Uniden Bearcat 396 is the best scanner for digital *and* analogue purposes
and it does trunked networks too. (Of course, it deosn't do encrypted stuff.
Anyone who claims to is telling a porky!) But only buy from an Australian
authorised dealer, list available from the Uniden site. BTW, I am not one!

Adam try going to http://vicscan.org/mmr_sites.php

99% of MFB and MAS comms are unencrypted with a few Talkgroups (channels)
allocated for encryption.
As for digital scannes either Uniden UBC396 or the UBC996 will do the job
nicely.
Dick Smith have a special offer on the 396 at the moment if you have the
cash and are quick enough
