hi there
can some one tell me how i can hear the police ,fire , ete on a
scanner as i have a old one that was good but no good now what do i
need to do so a can listen agean i do no i need to buy a new scanner
but do not no what type to but can any one give me some advice as i
need it so i do not buy some thing that is not going to do what i
wont .
buy the way i are in Darwin NT

No scanner can listen to the Police in NT as it is encrypted.

Look up the ACMA database for freqs for other services.

Well there you go, did not know NT Pol where digital or encrypted.
Would have thought they would have stayed analogue with the distances
they have to cover.

learnt something.

NT coppers in Darwin have been digital and encrypted for years now. Outside
of Darwin they seem to mainly use HF and I have heard (but have seen no
antennas on their vehicles) satphones.

NT Police and ACT were one of the first Police services to go digital
with APCO25, I think Tasmania was digital as well but 800Mhz trunking

the Sat phones don't need a very bit antenna at all, so you may not
notice then, probably just a bulge type antenna as used for GPS as they
would have to be circularly polarised
