Just info for anybody in port stephens area, local cops can be heard on
78.4875 reliably+clearly

Wagga Wagga/Deniliquin/Goulbourn area Police can be heard on 78.900 (both
sides of conversation) or 78.810 (sometimes only half of conversation for
some reason) just as clear as the local cops here(picked them up a couple of
weeks ago after a rescan and they have been booming in ever since night or
day)

Ive also found the local cops on 404.??? Mhz which might be a link frequency
for gan gan or somthing? prone to interference from my location so I didnt
write the frequency down - Are there any other bands I should be scanning
around?

I doubt that you are
more likely a linked freq, you'll find that the comms centre will handle
the comms for a very large area with most freqs linked

Would then be a link freq from Gan Gan mountain I guess your right (booms in
even on standard telescopic aerial that comes stock on 9000xlt)

If Im getting Wagga Wagga from a coastal location near Newcastle, are there
any other police areas that might also link through gan gan? Im guessing the
Police I picked up in the 404Mhz-ish range was also a link freq? (this freq
only had half the convo tho - The radio room)

They must have repeaters as I can get Goulburn area even when they are
on portables loud and clear some 300km away, and that is on my handheld

The channel is linked into an Analogue Liason Channel (known as "Channel X")
which is used throughout the NSWPF digital footprint to allow cars and
agencies without digital radios to call up. As there is bugger-all traffic
on Channel X and a waste of a radio operator, it is now linked on the quite
channel that covers Wagga-Goulburn as well as linked with GRN ESO10.

I get that goulbourn stuff on handheld on North Shore of Sydney on 468.750
I think it was, only clear b'cast i found in the nswpf freq range on
analogue..
I figured it was some sort of repeater trunk as I was surprised to hear it
and the area up here,
can only imagine more surprise to be able to listen to whats happening in
Goulbourn from the Port
area !
