Well I fired up my trusty UBC9000XLT after moving into a new
neighbourhood and was surprised to still hear tons of cordless phones
on the 30MHz & 49MHz bands. I guess people are either too cheap or
ignorant to realise that their conversations are not secure.

48 Mhz cordless is not legal in Australia.
What 49 Mhz frequencies did you hear?

and so is recording foxtel, and so is recording songs off the radio
actually the recording of TV/Foxtel and radio is no longer illegal for
home use
that law was changed a couple of years ago

in fact Foxtel will hire you a recorder so that you can record shows

what are they using
Macrovision?
same as DVD

if so there are nice little decoder boxes out there
usually called Video enhancers
they can rid the stream of most embedded nasties

I've been checking the programme used for NNTP reading by the top
posters, and they *all* use M$ Outhouse Exploder. Back in the dark
days before Windoze came along, bottom posting was the normal way of
the Usenet community.

But when the Beast of Redmond came to try to dominate the world of
computing, he decreed that all Linux was *eeevil* and therefore
bottom posting was also *eeevil*, so he set up Outhouse Exploder to
automatically top post.

Some people invented OE Quote fix to fix the nastiness of OE but the
majority of new users, attracted by the glitzy and idiot friendly
nature of M$, were too lazy to either fix OE or just didn't care
enough, and so top posting became prevalent.

Sad.

Not much point though, when with a little creative editing, I can make
it look as though you did the right thing! :-)

And you don't *have* to run Macro$haft, you can run any OS you like! I
run both Mandrake Linux for my email and NGs and Windoze for my SSTV
and AV apps.

Just for you at the bottom Kate, so you don't have to edit.
Other OS's do not support all of my hardware.
My reason for top posting is that, to see the latest relevant reply, you
just open the post, there it is, at the top.
If you wish to read a couple of replies back, you just scroll down.
In my eyes the most efficient way for all.

heheheh thanks Rob! I should point out though, it's not just bottom
posting but middle as well. I have been known to add comments all the
way through a longish post. If I had top posted all of them, you
would have to refer to the original passage, back to the top, then
back to the body, back to the top again..... Most inefficient!

Suffice it to say that we can agree to disagree. I shall continue on
with bottom and middle posting, and you go and do your rebellious
(and M$ sonsored) thing! :-))

it annoys me, just proves that those who top post have no regard for
history and tradition.

Who said anything about monitoring ? The OP mentioned hearing cordless
phone transmissions and nothing else. If you want to act a like a
do-gooder then go somewhere else.
