Hi all,

does anyone know what the frequency the Vic Police are using for there in
car "mobile data terminals", & is it
receivable using the PDW Pocsag program?

They actually use a dedicated network called the Victoria MDN

It uses the RD-Lap data protocol which cannot be decoded by PDW or any
software.

and that is not used on the new trunking network?
seems a waste to have all that shiny capability and just use it for
normal voice ops

may as well have just bought a couple of thousand prepaid mobile phones

I think they learned a lesson from the NSW GRN which used to run MDT data
and voice on the same trunk system. It was a disaster. Keeping the data
separate from voice means less congestion and less hassles.
