Thanks to Kev in this group i bought my first trunking scanner yesterday ,a
dse96 digital for $100,so happy i bought another for $70.They are a
clearance item at dse.

Now,is there an easy way for a complete newby to start trunking?
What freq are the trunking ones and any special setup for the 96?

The handbook is confusing as ive had no prior trunking experience.

Anyone please?

ALSO TY KEV for your post regarding dse,now im digital at long last.

The only trunking you'll be able to use on that scanner(without computer
software control) is on 800MHz

I have a 245 scanner set up with some 800Mhz freqs that does track some
talk group IDs

been a few years since I've used that feature on it

Not sure how to use these new scanners for trunking though
haven't even started on my new 396 and 996 radios

Hi Kev,
the book tells about setup on three different bands,vhf,uhf,800mhz [still
uhf]. trouble is i cant put in any more than a 2 digit sys id.

im obviously not understanding it as im brand new to trunking. It'll click
soon after ive made enough mistakes.

I ALSO bought the 996 as well and am thinking of the 396 too. but the 996 is
still unpacked yet.

Cheers and TY .. PJ

Have you actually got it scanning the trunking system yet?
forget ID until that works
wait till some ID start appearing and go from there
